Week of the Young Child

Week of the Young Child

The Week of the Young Child is an annual event celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities. The annual celebration is sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world’s largest early childhood education association, with nearly 60,000 members and a network of 52 Affiliates. The purpose of the event is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

To celebrate, the Waco City Council and McLennan County Commissioners Court will be issuing proclamations on Tuesday, April 4th, recognizing April 1-7, 2023 as Week of the Young Child in our City and County. We’ll be receiving these proclamations on behalf of the McLennan County Child Well-being Movement at the 9am County Commissioners Court meeting and 6pm City Council Meeting on Tuesday, April 4th.

Join us this year by following along on our social media accounts throughout the week.

“As a United Way CIC member, I’ve had the opportunity to champion the way forward at increasing the equity in grant-making. Collectively, we strive to move the dial in a direction whereby funded programs are representative of the communities they serve.”
