Home > Allocation Process Allocation ProcessThe United Way Allocations Committee provides the vital service of monitoring the distribution of funds to United Ways partner agencies. The committee, comprised of volunteers from the community, meets with representatives from each agency, reviews the amount requested and carefully scrutinizes financial records and programs. This process takes place over several meetings and cumulates with recommendations to the UW Board regarding the amount of support allotted to each agency for the coming year. As the year progresses, the agencies file reports regarding expenditures and progress made in meeting goals and objectives. Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children $109,081 for support to victims of sexual assault, abuse and other crimes American Red Cross HOT Area Chapter $157,702 for disaster services to families in need and for public education courses in the community The ARC of McLennan County $65,000 for care and support of people with developmental disabilities AVANCE $28,888 to provide family support and education services for at-risk, impoverished families with children ages 0-3 years. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas (no allocation) provides professionally supported, one-to one relationships that help children reach their potential Boys and Girls Clubs of Waco $105,000 for health and physical education programs for children and youth in the community Camp Fire USA Tejas $60,714 to give today's youth a chance to become tomorrow's community leaders Caritas of Waco $40,000 for emergency and supplemental food assistance to persons in need Central Texas Youth Services $7,500 for counseling, emergency shelter, and a 1-800 hotline to youth in need Community Cancer Association $130,000 for financial assistance to cancer patients for medications, supplies and transportation Compassion Ministries $68,000 to provide housing for families with children in a crisis situation with dignity and compassion Economic Opportunities Advancement Corporation $40,000 to match federal funds for dependable, low cost childcare Family Abuse Center $51,354 for a safe place for women and children fleeing family violence to start a new life of peace Family Counseling and Children's Services $158,860 to strengthen families under stress through affordable, professional counseling Family Health Center $40,500 to provide primary health care to the vulnerable and underserved in McLennan County Freeman Center $35,000 for individuals to be given the opportunity live clean and sober lives Girl Scouts of Central Texas $26,000 for educational and fun programs for girls in a safe and nurturing environment Kids and Company $58,000 for quality full-day and after school childcare at six locations for children ages 3-11 Mental Health Mental Retardation Center, HOT Region $37,976 for services to those coping with mental illness, mental retardation, and developmental disabilities Salvation Army $167,500 for crisis intervention and emergency services to those in need YMCA of Central Texas Doris Miller $95,000 for a fun and safe place for youth to go after school and in the summer |
